Carolina Castro Jorquera

Carolina Castro Jorquera (1982, San Felipe, Chile) Scholar, critic and curator of contemporary art, Castro Jorquera was born in Chile and now works in Spain. She studied art at the Universidad del Desarrollo en Santiago de Chile, received a Master of Contemporary Art and Visual Culture degree from the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Spain (2010), and in the 4th edition of the Gwangju (South Korea) Biennale was a contributor to its International Curators workshop (2012).

She is currently working on her doctoral thesis in the Art Theory department of the Universidad Autónoma of Madrid. Her interests are framed by the relations that art is capable of establishing with other disciplines such as science and philosophy, as well as by the different dimensions of human consciousness and its role in the construction of history and the present. She writes regularly on her blog blog.caroinc.net, and contributes for Artishock and Adesk, two digital publications on contemporary art.
