Emiliano Valdés (Guatemala, 1980) is Chief Curator of the Museo de Arte Moderno de Medellín. He was recently the Associate Curator of the 10th Gwangju Biennial (South Korea) and Co-director of Proyectos Ultravioleta (Guatemala). Valdés was previously the Curator and Director of Visual Arts at the Cultural Center of Spain in Guatemala where, over five years, he helped to transform the Guatemalan art scene. He has worked in institutions like dOCUMENTA (13) ( Kassel ), Museo Centro de Arte Reina Sofia (Madrid) and for Contemporary Magazines (London) , among others. He has written for ArtNexus, Arte al Día, and FlashArt, among other international publications, and has been published in catalogs and books. He is interested in art as a form of knowledge, in the production of programs for the public, and the relationship between art, culture, and the natural environment.
