Rafael Pereira Escalona


Architect. Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV), 1978. Professor and former coordinator of the architectural history and criticism department in the School of Architecture and Urbanism (FAU) at UCV. Pereira Escalona is also professor of History of Landscaping I and II in the Landscaping of the Environmental Renewal Sector master’s program as well as professor of Contemporary History of Museums in the specialized course in museology within the design concentration at FAU-UCV. He has been a consultant to art collectors Patricia Phelps de Cisneros, Inocente Palacios, Jorge Yebaile, Valentina and Ignacio Oberto, and Carolina and Fernando Eseverri.

Pereira Escalona researches and lectures on the relations between art and architecture in modernity and in the contemporary (Seminar series Discusiones II and III, sponsored by the CPPC-FC and the Instituto de Estudos Avançados at the Universidade de São Paulo), as well as on the theme of the Caracas home as villa (sponsored by the Fundación Planchart, custodians of Gio Ponti’s Villa Planchart).

He was also the curator of the exhibition Klaus Heufer, Arquitecto: Arqueología de la Modernidad (Centro Cultural BOD, Caracas) in 2014.
