Rosana Paulino (b. São Paulo) is an artist who lives and works in São Paulo, Brazil. Paulino received a Bachelor’s degree in printmaking from the University of São Paulo (USP) in 1995 as well as advanced training in printmaking techniques at the London Print Studio in 1998. In 2011 Paulino received a PhD degree in printmaking from the University of São Paulo.
Paulino’s work investigates the Afro-Brazilian experience and focuses on the experience of black women in Brazilian society. She has participated in several international art exhibitions as well as in Brazil. Paulino has received many awards for her art performances, including scholarships for both academic studies and artistic creation. She was awarded the Ford Foundation International Fellowship (cohort 2006) to pursue a Masters degree in Visual Arts at the University of São Paulo. In 2008 she was awarded a scholarship by the Brazilian government to pursue a PhD degree in Visual Arts at the University of São Paulo. Paulino is also a former researcher at The Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center, Italy (2014).
