Thomas Cummins is Dumbarton Oaks Professor of the History of Pre-Columbian and Colonial Art in the Department of the History of Art and Architecture, Harvard University and a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on the Pre-Columbian arts of Peru and Ecuador and the colonial arts of Latin America, especially sixteenth-century Peru, Ecuador, Mexico and Colombia. Most recently, Cummins collaborated with a team of scholars at the Getty Research Institute to study two illustrated manuscripts from 17th-century Peru, resulting in two edited volumes and two facsimiles. His most recent book is Beyond the Lettered City: Native Literacies in the Northern Andes, co-authored with Joanne Rappaport and published by The Duke University Press, 2012. Cummins is also co-Chair of Arts at DRCLAS, which concentrates on exhibitions and publications of contemporary Latin America Artists.
