The Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros (CPPC), in collaboration with The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) Archives, Library, and Research Collections, is pleased to announce the launch of
Cisneros Research Guide. This bilingual research tool provides public access to over 200 curated digital assets, ensuring the long-term accessibility of key materials related to Latin American and Caribbean art and culture.
"From the beginning, the CPPC has been dedicated to education and the sharing of art, ideas, and conversations across borders," says Patricia Phelps de Cisneros. "Over the years, we’ve explored new ways to reach broader audiences, from publications to award-winning digital platforms. But digital materials are fragile, and without active preservation, valuable content can be lost. This collaboration with MoMA ensures that the voices and stories shaping Latin American and Caribbean art and culture remain accessible in both English and Spanish for generations to come."
Since the early 2000s, the CPPC has pursued its research and outreach missions through its website, which featured audiovisual recordings of interviews with artists, scholarly talks and panels, and curator commentaries on works in the collection. In 2019, the CPPC and MoMA began conversations focused on the preservation of born-digital materials and the advancement of public access to art and cultural scholarship. As a result, in 2022, the CPPC donated a selection of digital media to MoMA, enabling their safeguarding through the Museum’s digital preservation tools. The
Cisneros Research Guide builds upon this effort by providing centralized, bilingual access to a wealth of research materials, including audiovisual recordings, scholarly publications, and curated documentation of the CPPC’s programming, alongside information about Mrs. Cisneros’s donations of art to MoMA’s art collection and the ongoing research and programming of the
Cisneros Institute, a research center of Latin American Art within the Museum. The platform features:
Research Resources on CPPC Donations – Insights into Patricia Phelps de Cisneros’ contributions and major donations to MoMA’s collection.
Resources from the Cisneros Institute – Programs, publications, and research initiatives from the
Cisneros Institute at MoMA.Artist Interviews and Talks – A selection of audiovisual recordings featuring artists, curators, and scholars.
