Join us for the Spanish language book launch of Tania Bruguera in conversation with/en conversación con Claire Bishop presented in conjunction with the virtual inauguration of the third exhibition of the Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires' (Malba) program "History as rumor", featuring an archive and study of Bruguera’s performance Destierro, carried out in 1998–1999 in Havana. The renowned Cuban artist will discuss her origins in performance and the limits of art and artivism with art historian Claire Bishop (City University of New York), Diego Sileo, curator of the Padiglione d'Arte Contemporanea (PAC), Milan and Gabriela Rangel, artistic director of Malba.

The conversation will also offer an overview of the recently published book Tania Bruguera in conversation with/en conversación con Claire Bishop. This volume is the eleventh title in our Conversaciones/Conversations series, and features an in-depth conversation between the artist and Claire Bishop. In this interview, Bruguera tells her own story, recounting the development of her early work in 1980s Cuba, motivated by her political activism, and her shift from intimate performances to the orchestration of the large-scale interactive situations and events that characterize her work today.

Free event via Zoom with prior registration.
