This richly illustrated catalogue which accompanied the exhibition
The Geometry of Hope: Latin American Art from the Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Collection that took place at the
Blanton Museum of Art (February–April 2007) and
Grey Art Gallery (September–December 2007), brings together two ideas that epitomized postwar abstract art from Latin-American: first, geometry, precision and reason; and secondly, a utopian sense of hope. The book contains essays by a diverse group of authors who examine six key cities in the history of Latin-American art: Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Caracas and Paris. Essays featured in this publication offer new scholarship about 47 works of art in the CPPC.
