This catalogue accompanied the exhibition Cruce de Miradas. Visiones de América Latina. Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros, that took place at the Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, Mexico (August – October 2006). The exhibition addressed the visions that contemporary Latin American artists projected in their search for modernity. This publication examines the varied innovative paths of the artists while simultaneously highlighting their shared language. It includes an introductory essay by Carlos Fuentes, a curatorial essay by Ariel Jiménez, and texts from other relevant scholars on the themes of the exhibition. The catalogue concludes with biographical information as well as reproductions of some of the artists’ most important documents and manifestos.
